As a part of the monthly in-depth product review, I will be reviewing the Lone Wolf Custom Gear 0.5 Public Land Stand. As a mobile hunting style is becoming extremely popular among hunters that want to go deeper, hunt harder, and shoot more mature bucks, Lone Wolf Custom Gear has become a leading brand for the mobile hunter.
Lone Wolf Custom Gear 0.5 Public Land Stand Details
Just like all the product reviews, I would rather not spend a lot of time on the details of the product like weight, price, and other details that can be looked up on the website.
Here is a table with all the information that can be found on Lone Wolf Custom Gear’s website.

I want to focus on my personal experience using the Lone Wolf Custom Gear 0.5 Public Land Stand so that you can get a better idea of how it may be useful to your and avoid some mistakes that I made in my first full season of using the product.
Comfortability of the Lone Wolf Custom Gear 0.5 Public Land Stand
The Lone Wolf Custom Gear 0.5 Public Land Stand is not meant to be used for all-day sits or to come close to the comfortability of a climbing tree stand. The size of the stand (Their Smallest Option) is where a lot of the comfort gets taken out.
I remember one hunt when I was using the tree stand for a 4-hour evening hunt on a piece of public land and after roughly 2 hours, I became slightly uncomfortable. By hour 4, I was ready to get down and head back to the car.
The main cause of the discomfort is how close you must pull your feet close to the tree because the platform is relatively small compared to other tree stands.
Although comfortability is not the focus of this product, it makes up for it with other strengths that are undoubtedly necessary for a serious mobile hunter.
Compact Design of the Lone Wolf Custom Gear 0.5 Public Land Stand
The Lone Wolf Custom Gear 0.5 Public Land Stand is the most lightweight, compact, and easy-to-haul stand in the Daquisto Series. It is perfect for the hunter that loves to go deeper into the woods.
One of my favorite parts of the Public Land Stand is that is extremely easy to pack up and get into and out of the woods efficiently. The entire frame of the stand does not extend farther than my shoulder frame (I also have a relatively small shoulder frame). This makes it super nice to walk through thickets without getting snagged up and causing unnecessary noise.
You can also strap all the climbing sticks onto the back of the stand while still having room for a backpack with all your extra gear.
I have found that with the compact design of these tree stands, I was able to walk further without getting tired, maneuver through tight spots, and easily ascend and descend the three.
Unique Details of the Lone Wolf Custom Gear 0.5 Public Land Stand
I cannot do an in-depth review of the Lone Wolf Custom Gear 0.5 Public Land Stand without mentioning all the unique details that make this mobile hunting set up one of the best on the market.
First, the most unique feature of this stand is the bow rope hooks that are on the main beam of the tree stand. This will allow you to quickly unhook your gear rope and get to hanging this stand.
Second, the backpack hook is a unique feature that will allow you to hook your backpack to the stand for easy portability. I found that this feature was best used when you have a lighter pack. When you have a heavier pack, it is harder to carry all that gear along with a tree stand.
Third, the straps of the Public Land 0.5 stand are not ratcheted straps. This reduces noise when setting up and taking down your tree stand. You can also use the straps to hold your climbing sticks to your Lone Wolf Custom Gear 0.5 Public Land stand. This makes for extremely easy movement and quick set-up and take-down times.
Lastly, I enjoyed the ability to strap this stand to any tree that is bigger than my arm (I am a skinny person). This feature allows you to not be limited to specific types of trees that you can hunt from with the 0.5 Public Land stand.
Set Up and Take Down
You may be wondering how hard it is to set up and take down the Lone Wolf Custom Gear 0.5 Public Land Stand. I cannot emphasize this enough. If you practice during the offseason, you will be able to set up and take down this stand within 10 minutes.
I made the critical mistake of not practicing enough during the offseason to prepare to use this product.
I found that without practice it was much more difficult to be efficient and quiet.
However, by the end of the season, I was becoming relatively faster.
Why a Hunter Needs the Lone Wolf Custom Gear 0.5 Public Land Stand
There has been a major in the whitetail industry to use of a mobile hunting strategy. This is because as the time of the year changes, hunting pressure increases, and deer movement changes, the location of where you hunt for the best chances of success will also change.
As someone just getting into mobile hunting, I would say that this strategy is a great way to always be switching locations and trying to hunt the deer down rather than hope that the deer will walk under your stand. It is kind of like you get to take a bit more control over your hunting experience.
I also want to mention that mobile hunting is not for every whitetail deer hunter. It takes a lot of endurance, time, and effort to set up and take down a tree stand every time you want to go hunting. However, with the Lone Wolf Custom Gear 0.5 Public Land Stand makes it as light, easy, and enjoyable as possible.
